Sundays with Slick

When I drew Slick and Pals, I did both dailies and Sundays. For those not in the know, dailies are comics that appear on weekdays, and Sundays are comics that appear in the Sunday paper. At 11 years old, I was cranking out more work than I do now. Of course, I had a lot more time on my hands in those days.

  1. There's something about that last panel that I find deeply and genuinely funny in kind of a peculiar way. There's something about the timing of this one that I love... Like the falling sequence just lasts a little too long for comfort, and it creates an interesting effect. I'm not even entirely sure what Slick means in that last panel but it cracks me up all the same. I would not have guessed an 11 year old did this.

  2. This is a strange one indeed. It almost plays out like a animation storyboard. When I read this now, it's not funny at all, but I guess 11 year old me liked it. Glad you enjoyed it.
