Sketchbook Project Part 1

I recently participated in The Art House Co-Op Limited Edition Sketchbook Project. The Sketchbook Project Limited Edition Vol. 1 is a collaborative series of art books created by 5000 artists from around the world. Once I filled out the entry form and paid my fee, the Art House Co-Op mailed me a blank sketchbook. I had to fill the entire sketchbook with artwork and return it on or before April 30, 2012.

Each blank sketchbook had a theme. My theme was "The Science of Story." There were no rules for this project. Participants were allowed to draw whatever they wish regardless of the supplied theme. The medium was up to the artist. Some participants filled their sketchbooks with photography; others painted. I chose to draw a series of autobiographical journal comics. I drew them digitally on my Cintiq. Once I printed the finished pages, I removed the blank pages from the supplied sketchbook and replaced them with my printed pages.

24 Hour Comic 2011: Getting Meta

Here's page 20 of my 24 Hour comic. After finishing page 19 and staying awake 24 consecutive hours, I was exhausted. I went to bed and slept most of the day. I woke up in the afternoon and finished the final five pages of the comic. The final pages of my 24 Hour comic are a parody of the Duck Amuck cartoon. It features a series of sight gags involving me drawing myself.

Here's page 19 of my 24 Hour comic. This was the last page that I completed within the 24 hour time limit. I started at 8:30 am on Saturday morning and finished this exact page at 8:30 am on Sunday morning.
