Sketchbook Project Part 5

Not to brag, but I do have an awesome Christmas tree. I have hundreds of keepsake ornaments: all cartoon characters (there's a few pop culture ones). My annual Christmas parties are a lot of fun. I love hosting parties and it's fun hanging out with all my friends under one roof. Catchphrase is a fun party game. Seriously. Get it. Also, I got some amazing presents this year: one of the best present hauls in a LONG time. The Charlie Brown figure set was one of my favorites.

Sketchbook Project Part 3

I recently participated in The Art House Co-Op Limited Edition Sketchbook Project. The project is a collaborative series of art books created by 5000 artists from around the world.

On page 2, that really is a drawing of my mom and my brother. My brother is wearing a pair of "goofy eyeball" novelty glasses. On the third page, the guys pictured next to me  are Travis Eck, Jeremy Johnson and Jeff Welborn.

This really happened. We tried to hang our art and we couldn't. The groundskeeper told us ahead of time that the hangers would be in a storage box in the lobby. When we got there, no box, no hangers. Nothing. We spent an hour searching the storage rooms trying to find them to no avail. It was lame.

Sketchbook Project Part 2

I recently participated in The Art House Co-Op Limited Edition Sketchbook Project. The project is a collaborative series of art books created by 5000 artists from around the world.

This is part two of my Limited Edition Sketchbook Project. The topics of these journal comics are very basic and ordinary. I thought it might be interesting to be straight forward with the material and not make it "jokey." Basically, these strips are very much an illustrated journal of recent events from my life.

You can see actual photos of my Roofus Halloween decor here and here.

Roofus, the World War I Flying Ace

Halloween was a lot of fun this year. I dressed as Charlie Brown. As you can see here, Roofus was decked out in his World War I Flying Ace costume in tribute to everyone's favorite beagle, Snoopy.

24 Hour Comic 2011: The Price of Geekdom

Here's page 5 of my 24 Hour Comic in which I discuss how to balance you comic convention budget. I usually blow ALL OF MY CASH at the conventions, but this year, I actually came home with money. I really did buy this stuff pictured here.

Re: the Peanuts joke. Note that I not only drew myself in Schulz's style, but I also used the Schulz font which mimics his handwriting. Friends and regular readers of my blog know that I'm a Charles Schulz fanatic.

Five Cents, Please

Here's a drawing I did for our local sketch group, aka the 4 After 5 crew. The idea was simple. Take two characters from pop culture, cartoons, comics, etc. and put them together in a wacky situation.

24 Hour Comic: Page 13

Here's a Peanuts parody that I did. This pays homage to both the comic strip, Peanuts, and the film, Pulp Fiction. The dialogue is taken from the infamous scene from director Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction. In Pulp Fiction, Sam Jackson's character, Jules Winnfield, quotes the Bible verse. In my parody, Linus quotes the scripture, which suits his theological personality.
