Super Genius

Here's another magazine illustration. Whenever I make a drawing in Illustrator, I don't really "draw" anything. I "build" the drawing using various shapes or "paths." It's a very different thought process than drawing by hand. Using the computer to create a drawing has its advantages. It allows me to easily make revisions or I can undo a mistake. In this illustration, I was going for a very abstract, paper cutout look.

  2. Thanks. This was one of my first "Illustrator" illustrations. It's fun to try different techniques.

  3. The best thing about that whole 'building' approach is the next time you put pencil to paper you have a stronger sense of design in your drawing. Every once in a while I need reminding of just how much mileage you can get out of basic geometric shapes.
